My husband Patrick and I have three sons, two of whom are in the Madison School District in Phoenix, Arizona.  I quit my job two years ago to stay home with our now two-and-a-half year old and to volunteer at Madison Heights and Camelview.

This year, we have embarked upon two new projects.  First, we want to share what we’ve learned (and are still trying to figure  out) about feeding a family local, organic food without breaking the bank.  Hence, the $200 a week challenge.  Every Friday, I’ll post “what we spent and what we ate,”  the week’s spending total, receipts, details about meals, and favorite recipes.

Second, we’ll be sharing our interest in food politics and school lunch reform.  I’ll keep you up-to-date on our progress in advocating for the adoption of a Farm-to-School Program in the Madison District.  Welcome to our food fight.
